It’s the end of August—hot as all get out. However, summer wanes and here in Vermont shades of green are already transitioning to bright, bold hues of red and orange. Soon the kaleidoscope of colors will be on full display in this beautiful state, and shortly thereafter, we will be gathering for the holiday season.

This issue is Edible Vermont’s largest to date, and I am loving its content. I am so thankful for my advertising partners (many of whom have contributed to this issue), readers, and all my creative associates who have assisted in building and expanding this publication.

The focus of this issue is on liquid assets and entertaining. And who better to be on the cover and interviewed in “Edible Voices” than Jonathan Goldsmith, the man who portrayed “The Most Interesting Man in the World.” It’s been a few years since I first met Jonathan and his wife, Barbara. Last year at this time, Jonathan officiated the marriage of my son to my over-the-top daughter-in-law. You know how sometimes when you meet people you just click? I feel like we’re family. I’m so grateful to call the Goldsmiths friends and can’t thank them enough for their contribution to this issue.

As it turns out, each section of this issue is paired:

  • A Natural Fit: Hotel Vermont and their partnership with Shelburne Vineyard, producer of Iapetus wine
  • Vermont cider stars Eden Specialty Ciders and Stowe Cider
  • What’s Cooking Crafty Cocktails features Alice & the Magician and Après Cocktails + Wine
  • Quechee retail and manufacturing icons Simon Pearce and Anichini
  • New age distilleries Village Garage Distillery and Black Flannel Brewing & Distilling Company
  • VT Advocacy: Make-A-Wish® Vermont and supporter Jonathan Goldsmith
  • Also included is a gift guide offering a selection of items from some our longtime supporters, including JK Adams in “Last Bite.”

From my family and my Edible family to yours—cheers!
