Green Mountain Flour
Green Mountain Flour is the product of Zach Stremlau's 24 years of baking experience, our love for New England's working landscape and a passion for rebuilding the local grain economy.
While there are many wonderful artisan bakeries, what distinguishes Green Mountain Flour is that we mill local grain. This is the focus of all our products from flour and pancake mixes to bread and pizza - in the prepared food aisle, in school lunches and from our mobile wood-fired pizza oven. In focusing on sourcing grain locally, Green Mountain Flour has its eye set on adding to the viability of small, diversified New England farms and reconnecting the dots between food and land.
Bringing back "the story of bread" as it travels from local field and farm to local table harkens back to our New England roots in the small villages of Europe and the United Kingdom where the farmer's knew the miller, the miller milled with stone and the baker baked with fire. This romantic link to our cultural heritage is part of our mission.
